Paying for fertility treatment in India
Fertility treatment in India is mainly provided by private, registered ART clinics and paid for directly. Insurance cover for assisted reproduction is limited and depends entirely on the policy.
Self-funded (private) treatment
Most treatment is paid for directly. Ask the clinic for an itemised written estimate that separates consultations, tests, medicines, the procedure, freezing and storage, and ask what is charged if a cycle is cancelled.
Health insurance
Some health insurance products include limited fertility-related benefits, and terms differ between insurers and policies. Read your policy wording and confirm in writing with your insurer what, if anything, applies before you start.
Public and charitable hospitals
Some government and teaching hospitals provide fertility services, and availability differs by state and hospital. Your treating doctor or the hospital can explain what is offered locally.
Employer benefits
A growing number of employers include fertility benefits in their group cover. Your HR team can confirm whether anything applies to you.
