Method

  1. Step 1. Cook the rice until the grains are separate, then spread on a plate to cool slightly.
  2. Step 2. Heat the oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and chana dal and fry until the dal turns golden.
  3. Step 3. Add peanuts, curry leaves, green chilli and turmeric, and fry for another minute.
  4. Step 4. Stir in the cooked chana and warm through.
  5. Step 5. Add the cooked rice and mix gently, then remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice and salt to taste.
