Method

  1. Step 1. Heat the oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  2. Step 2. Add the onion and green chilli, and cook for 2 minutes until softened.
  3. Step 3. Stir in the carrot, peas and tomato, and cook for 3–4 minutes.
  4. Step 4. Add the turmeric, salt and water (about 2 cups, 400 ml), and bring to the boil.
  5. Step 5. Stir in the oats (1 cup) and simmer for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and creamy.
  6. Step 6. Finish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
