Method

  1. Step 1. Dry-roast the dalia (about 1 cup, 150 g) in a pan for 2–3 minutes until lightly fragrant, then set aside.
  2. Step 2. Heat the oil in the same pan, splutter the mustard seeds, then add curry leaves, green chilli and onion, and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Step 3. Add the carrot and peas, and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Step 4. Pour in the water (about 2 cups, 500 ml) and salt, and bring to the boil.
  5. Step 5. Stir in the roasted dalia, reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and the water is absorbed.
  6. Step 6. Finish with lemon juice and serve warm.
