Miscarriage

The loss of a pregnancy before 24 weeks.

Most early miscarriages are caused by chromosome problems in the embryo and are not caused by anything the parents did. Seek urgent care for heavy bleeding, fever or severe pain.

An abnormal number of chromosomes.

Biochemical pregnancy

A positive pregnancy test that does not progress to a pregnancy seen on scan.
