Saline sonography (SIS)

An ultrasound taken while sterile fluid outlines the uterine cavity.

Also called saline infusion sonography or a fluid scan, this shows polyps, submucosal fibroids and adhesions inside the cavity without X-rays.

A small overgrowth of the uterine lining inside the cavity.

Submucosal fibroid

A fibroid bulging into the cavity of the uterus.

Hysteroscopy

A camera examination of the inside of the uterus.
