Anejaculation

The inability to ejaculate semen, whether during intercourse, masturbation or both.

Male fertility

Anejaculation means a man is unable to ejaculate, which can be lifelong or acquired, and can occur in all situations or only in some (for example, during intercourse but not masturbation). Delayed ejaculation, where ejaculation takes a very long time or requires specific conditions, is related and sits on the same spectrum. Causes can include spinal cord injury, nerve damage from diabetes or surgery, certain medicines, psychological factors, or hormonal conditions. Assessment and management depend on the underlying cause; when ejaculation cannot be achieved naturally, options can include specific medical approaches, vibratory or electrical stimulation techniques, or surgical sperm retrieval for use with assisted conception.

Also known as: delayed ejaculation, inability to ejaculate
