Chlamydia

A common bacterial STI that often has no symptoms but can silently damage the fallopian tubes.

Infections

Chlamydia is a bacterial sexually transmitted infection that frequently causes no symptoms, especially in women, which allows it to go untreated and spread to the uterus and tubes. Ascending chlamydia infection is one of the best-documented preventable causes of tubal-factor infertility and ectopic pregnancy worldwide, including in India. Chlamydia is diagnosed with a swab or urine test and treated with antibiotics; partners usually need testing and treatment too, to prevent re-infection. Screening before fertility treatment helps identify and treat infection before it can affect an IVF or IUI cycle.
