Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) means the ovaries hold fewer eggs than expected for a woman's age, usually identified through a low AMH level, a low antral follicle count, or a raised FSH level. It can occur at any age but becomes more common as women get older. DOR does not mean pregnancy is impossible, and it is not the same as being unable to conceive naturally. It mainly affects how many eggs may be collected during ovarian stimulation for IVF, so specialists often use it to plan medicine doses and set realistic expectations rather than as a stand-alone diagnosis of infertility.
Also known as: DOR, low AMH, low egg reserve
