DuoStim is an IVF approach in which a woman undergoes two rounds of ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval within the same menstrual cycle: one during the follicular phase and a second during the luteal phase. The aim is to collect more eggs in a shorter overall time, which can be relevant for women with a reduced ovarian reserve, those needing urgent fertility preservation (for example before cancer treatment), or those who responded poorly to a first stimulation. DuoStim is a more specialised approach used in specific circumstances and is not standard for every IVF patient. Its use, benefits and limitations for a given individual should be discussed with the treating fertility specialist, and current evidence on its comparative benefit over two conventional stimulated cycles continues to develop.
