Genetics
Mitochondrial donation combines the nuclear DNA of the intended parents with healthy donor mitochondria. Australia legalised it for research and, in stages, clinical use under Maeve's Law, with a strict licensing framework. It applies only to serious inherited mitochondrial disease and is not a general fertility treatment.
