Fertility basics
Subfertility describes a lower than average chance of conceiving in any given month. Conception may still happen naturally, but it usually takes longer, and treatment can shorten the time. Many clinicians prefer this word because it reflects reality more accurately than 'infertility' for most couples being assessed.
