A District Medical Board is a body constituted at district level that provides medical certification relevant to the surrogacy process, such as confirming the medical condition underpinning a certificate of essentiality, or certifying an abandoned, divorced or widowed woman's eligibility where the Act and Rules provide for this. Its role is set out in the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021 and Rules.
