The Surrogacy (Regulation) Rules set out the operational detail under the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021, including surrogacy clinic registration, the certificates a commissioning couple and surrogate must obtain, insurance requirements, and District Medical Board procedures. The Rules have been amended since 2022, including changes notified in 2024 concerning the source of gametes used in a surrogacy pregnancy. Because the Rules are amended by gazette notification, this glossary does not state a fixed condition as permanently current.
