Double embryo transfer (DET) means transferring two embryos in a single cycle rather than one. It can increase the overall chance of a pregnancy from that cycle but also increases the chance of a multiple pregnancy, which carries greater medical risk for the pregnant person and the babies than a singleton pregnancy. The number of embryos transferred in a cycle is governed by current Indian regulatory requirements together with the treating clinic's clinical judgement about individual circumstances, such as age and embryo quality.
