IVF treatment
Single embryo transfer (SET) means transferring one embryo in a given cycle, rather than more than one. It is the most effective way to reduce the chance of a multiple pregnancy (twins or more), which carries higher risks for both the pregnant person and the babies compared with a singleton pregnancy. Whether SET is recommended for a particular cycle depends on factors such as embryo quality, age, and previous treatment history, and is discussed between you and your fertility team as part of planning your transfer.
