An intending couple is a term used in the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021 for a couple who intend to undergo ART procedures to have a child. It is distinct from a commissioning couple, which is the term used specifically in the context of surrogacy. Under the ART Act, an intending couple must give informed written consent, and their treatment must be provided by a registered ART clinic or bank.
