Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS)

An over-response to fertility medication causing swollen, painful ovaries.

Ranges from mild bloating to serious illness. Contact your unit urgently with severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, rapid weight gain or breathlessness after stimulation or egg retrieval.
