Anatomy
The cervix produces mucus that changes across the cycle, becoming clear and stretchy around ovulation to help sperm travel. During embryo transfer a fine catheter is passed through the cervix into the uterus. A difficult cervical passage can sometimes be anticipated with a trial (mock) transfer.
