Fecundability

Fecundability is the probability that one cycle of trying results in a pregnancy. For a healthy couple in their twenties or early thirties it is roughly one in four or five per cycle, which is why conception commonly takes several months even when nothing is wrong. Fecundability falls gradually with age, particularly from the mid-thirties. The idea matters because it explains why doctors look at how long you have been trying, not just at one month.
