Hypogonadism

Low sex-hormone production from the testes or ovaries.

Male fertility

In men, hypogonadism means the testes produce too little testosterone, sometimes with reduced sperm production. It may come from a testicular problem or from the pituitary and hypothalamus. Assessment includes hormone blood tests and a semen analysis. Testosterone replacement suppresses sperm production, so fertility plans are discussed before any treatment starts.

Also known as: low testosterone, testosterone deficiency
