Azoospermia

Azoospermia is diagnosed when no sperm are found in a centrifuged sample on at least two occasions. It is obstructive, where production is normal but the passage is blocked, or non-obstructive, where production itself is impaired. Assessment includes hormone tests, examination, genetic testing and referral to a urologist, and sperm can often still be retrieved surgically for ICSI.
