Male fertility
Non-obstructive azoospermia reflects failure of sperm production, often with raised FSH and smaller testes. Causes include Klinefelter syndrome, Y chromosome microdeletions, previous chemotherapy, undescended testes and unknown factors. Micro-TESE retrieves sperm in a proportion of cases; genetic counselling is recommended before treatment.
