APS is diagnosed with persistent antibodies on testing at least 12 weeks apart, alongside a clinical history of thrombosis or defined pregnancy complications. It is one of the few causes of recurrent loss with an effective treatment, usually low-dose aspirin with heparin in pregnancy under specialist care.
