Recurrent pregnancy loss

Two or more consecutive pregnancy losses.

Pregnancy after treatment

Canadian practice investigates after two or three losses, and after one in some circumstances such as later loss or advanced age. Standard investigation includes parental karyotypes where indicated, antiphospholipid antibodies, thyroid function and assessment of the uterine cavity. About half of couples have no cause identified, and most still go on to a successful pregnancy.

Also known as: RPL, repeated miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage
