IVF & IUI
Egg retrieval is done under sedation or light anaesthetic and usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. A needle guided by transvaginal ultrasound drains each follicle, and the fluid is checked by the laboratory for eggs. Cramping and light bleeding afterwards are common. Contact the clinic urgently for severe pain, fever, heavy bleeding or fainting.
