OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome)

OHSS ranges from mild bloating to a rare severe form needing hospital care. Modern protocols, careful monitoring and freezing all embryos where the response is high reduce the risk. Seek urgent care — call 911 or attend an emergency department — if you develop rapid abdominal swelling, severe pain, breathlessness or greatly reduced urine output.
