Female fertility
Torsion causes sudden severe one-sided pain, often with nausea and vomiting, and risks loss of the ovary if not treated quickly. Risk is higher with cysts and with enlarged ovaries after stimulation. Call 911 or go to an emergency department immediately for sudden severe pelvic pain.
