A slim probe is placed in the vagina, giving much better images than scanning through the abdomen. It is the standard scan for antral follicle counts, follicle tracking during stimulation and measuring the endometrium. It should not be painful. You can ask for a chaperone, ask to insert the probe yourself, or ask the scan to stop at any point.
