Tests & investigations
Sperm and egg meet in the fallopian tube, so at least one open, functioning tube is needed for natural conception or IUI. Patency is checked by HSG, HyCoSy or laparoscopy with dye. An open tube is not necessarily a healthy tube: damage to the lining can impair function even when dye passes.
