Embryo storage fee

An embryo storage fee (often called an 'annual storage fee') is charged for keeping frozen embryos in a clinic or laboratory's storage system, separate from the fee for the freezing procedure itself. Storage is usually billed on a recurring basis, so the total cost depends on how long embryos remain in storage before a frozen embryo transfer, donation, or agreed disposal. Ask your clinic in writing about the storage fee, the billing interval, what happens if a payment is missed, and what your options are for extending, ending, or transferring storage. Decisions about what happens to stored embryos — including in the event of death, divorce, separation, or loss of contact — should be documented as part of your consent process under India's ART framework.
