A gamete donor is a person who provides eggs or sperm, recruited and screened through an ART bank registered under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021, rather than through direct arrangement with a clinic or recipient. Donors must meet statutory eligibility criteria (including age limits and health screening) and give informed consent to donation, storage and use of their gametes. India's ART framework treats donor identity as confidential, and donors do not acquire parental rights or responsibilities over any child born from their donated gametes, consistent with the legal parentage provisions of the Act.
