Hepatitis C is a bloodborne virus that infects the liver and is included in standard pre-treatment infection screening at Indian fertility clinics. Unlike hepatitis B, most sexual transmission risk is lower, but screening remains important for laboratory safety and to guide medical care, including referral for antiviral treatment where indicated, which can cure the infection in most people. A positive result is managed with appropriate clinic precautions and does not usually prevent fertility treatment.
