IVF success rates are statistics, such as the live birth rate, clinical pregnancy rate, or cumulative live birth rate over several embryo transfers, that describe outcomes across a defined group of patients treated at a clinic or reported in a dataset. They are population-level figures and cannot be read as a personal prediction for any individual, because outcomes are influenced by many factors including age, ovarian reserve, cause of infertility, and embryo quality. Different ways of reporting success (per cycle started, per embryo transfer, per retrieval, or cumulative across multiple transfers) can give quite different-looking numbers for the same underlying data, so it is important to understand which measure is being described when comparing information. In India, clinics registered under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021 report data to the National ART & Surrogacy Registry, and prospective patients are encouraged to ask a clinic how its reported figures are calculated and to discuss their own individual chances with their treating specialist rather than relying on advertised numbers alone.
