An ART clinic is any facility that offers assisted reproductive technology procedures such as IVF, ICSI, IUI or embryo transfer. Under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021, an ART clinic must be registered before it can lawfully offer these services, and it must comply with staffing, consent, record-keeping and reporting requirements set out in the ART Rules. Different categories of registration may apply depending on the range of procedures a clinic offers, but the exact classification and conditions are set out in the current Rules rather than in ordinary usage; patients should check the National ART & Surrogacy Registry and the National ART & Surrogacy Portal for what a specific clinic is registered to do.
