Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is an optional additional procedure and its fee is charged separately from the core IVF cycle, typically per embryo biopsied and tested plus a laboratory or reporting fee. Costs can add up when several embryos are tested, and PGT does not guarantee a healthy pregnancy or child. Ask your clinic and genetic counsellor whether PGT is clinically appropriate for your situation before agreeing to it, since it involves an embryo biopsy and is not required for every patient. Sex selection using PGT or any other technique is prohibited in India under the PCPNDT Act, and any use of PGT must remain within India's regulatory framework.
