Thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO antibody)

Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies indicate autoimmune thyroid disease, most often Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In fertility care, TPO antibody positivity is sometimes checked alongside TSH, particularly with a history of recurrent pregnancy loss or unexplained infertility, because autoimmune thyroid disease can be associated with subtly altered thyroid function and pregnancy loss risk even when TSH is within range. Management focuses on monitoring and treating any associated thyroid dysfunction, under medical supervision.
