Hormones
Androgens are hormones such as testosterone, androstenedione and DHEAS. Women produce them in small amounts in the ovaries and adrenal glands. Higher levels can cause acne, extra hair growth on the face or body and irregular ovulation, and are one of the features used in diagnosing PCOS.
