Fertility preservation

Fertility preservation covers freezing sperm, eggs, embryos or ovarian or testicular tissue so that having a family later remains possible. It is offered before treatments that may damage fertility, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy or gender-affirming treatment, and electively for age-related reasons. Timing matters: where medical treatment is urgent, referral should be made as early as possible.
