Medicine shortage

Shortages happen, and can affect a specific brand, strength or device rather than the whole medicine class. If your pharmacy cannot supply, tell the clinic promptly rather than skipping a dose: they can often prescribe an equivalent product containing the same active ingredient, arrange a different presentation, or in rare cases apply for a Section 21 authorisation. Never buy a substitute outside the licensed supply chain.
