Tests & investigations
This test measures the proportion of sperm with damaged DNA, reported as a fragmentation index. It is an add-on rather than a routine test, and is usually considered after recurrent miscarriage, repeated failed cycles or poor embryo development. Laboratories use different methods and cut-offs, and the evidence on which treatments improve outcomes is still developing, so discuss what the result would change before booking it.
