Surrogate

The surrogate, referred to in the Children's Act as the surrogate mother, carries the pregnancy under a court-confirmed surrogate motherhood agreement. She must meet the statutory requirements, undergo medical and psychological assessment, and receive independent legal advice. She retains the right to make decisions about her own body and health during the pregnancy.
