Hormones
TSH reflects how hard the pituitary is pushing the thyroid gland. An underactive or overactive thyroid can disturb ovulation, increase miscarriage risk and affect early pregnancy, so TSH is commonly checked before or during fertility treatment. Treatment is usually straightforward, and many clinics aim for a lower TSH target when trying to conceive than for the general population.
