Fertility preservation
Some chemotherapy agents, pelvic radiotherapy and certain surgeries damage eggs or sperm-producing tissue, sometimes permanently. The risk depends on the drug, dose, radiation field and age. An oncofertility discussion should quantify that risk before treatment and set out the preservation options within the available time.
