Iodine

A nutrient needed for a baby's brain development.

Nutrition and lifestyle

Iodine supplementation is recommended in Australia before conception, in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, because dietary intake is often insufficient. It is included in most pregnancy multivitamins. People with thyroid conditions should check with their doctor first.
