Non-invasive prenatal testing analyses placental DNA in the pregnant person's blood from about 10 weeks, screening for trisomy 21, 18 and 13. It is a screening test, not diagnostic: a high-chance result needs confirmation by CVS or amniocentesis. In Australia it is usually an out-of-pocket cost.
