Conditions
PID is infection spreading from the cervix into the uterus, tubes and pelvis, most often from chlamydia or gonorrhoea. It causes pelvic pain, fever and abnormal discharge, and repeated episodes progressively damage the tubes. Prompt antibiotic treatment protects fertility, which is why untreated STIs matter.
