Male fertility
A sperm cell carries half the genetic material needed for an embryo, plus the structures that let it swim and penetrate the egg. Production takes around two and a half months, so lifestyle changes, illness or fever affect results with a delay — which is why repeat semen tests are usually spaced about three months apart.
