Spermatogenesis is the roughly 74-day cycle in which stem cells in the seminiferous tubules develop into mature sperm, driven by FSH, LH and testosterone. Anything that disturbs the process — hormonal problems, heat, illness, some medicines, chemotherapy — shows up in semen results two to three months later.
Also known as: sperm production
