Spotting is light bleeding that does not need a pad or tampon. It can occur mid-cycle around ovulation, before a period, after intercourse, in early pregnancy, or with progesterone pessaries. Spotting during the two-week wait does not reliably indicate either a pregnancy or a failed cycle, but new or persistent bleeding should be reported.
Also known as: breakthrough bleeding, light bleeding
